Semester #9...computers for students!!!!!

Some educators believe that every child in every school should have access to computers. Others believe that the value of computers in the classroom is overrated and that computers may actually interfere with the learning process. In my opinion, I believe it is very important that computers should be in the classroom, or have a computer room for all the students. Technology is what people need now and days and help with many things. Students can do research on the computers from what a teacher may have assigned to them for a project. It is a really good resource for all students from middle school to college. I believe all those ages in school should have access to computers at school and even at home for their homework (if needed).
Daily technology use in core subject-area classes, frequent technology use in intervention courses, and a low student-to-computer ratio can play a critical role in reducing dropout rates. A federal investment in mobile computers for every child would pay huge dividends with the national productivity. Technology is an investment, not an expense. About almost fifty percent of all schools would say their dropout rates are going down, but for schools that have implemented a program called one to one computing programs, that figure is about fifty-eight percent. For schools that are implementing one to one programs effectively, employing strategies such as regular formative assessment and frequent teacher collaboration, that figure jumps to about eighty percent. A one to one computing is giving a student a Mac or Windows laptop. This really helps students not to dropout of school. The difference in lifetime tax revenues between a dropout and a college graduate is approximately two hundred thousand dollars. Schools with a one to one student-to-computer ratio are cutting the dropout rate and reaping this broader benefit.
There were 3.7 million-seventh graders in the United States public schools in fall 2007, according to the Education Department’s most recent Digest of Education Statistics. If the federal government spent four hundred dollars to supply each seventh grader with a mobile computing device, and then did this for every subsequent class of seventh graders, the cost would be about 1.5 billion dollars per year. The high school graduation rate of the United States students has ranged from seventy-one percent to seventy-four percent for the last decade. A rate of seventy-four percent means nine hundred sixty-two of the seventh graders from 2007 likely will not graduate. If just one-tenth of these potential dropouts were actually to finish school and go on to college, that would result in ninety-six thousand two hundred more college graduates and about nineteen billion dollars more in tax revenues over the next forty years.
Yes, this is a hypothetical scenario that relies on a few assumptions. The first being that the lower dropout rates in schools with one to one computing programs are a result of these programs and not some other factor. I believe this will work, keeping kids into school. I believe the educators that argue that every child in every school should have access to computers is correct.

"My living room..." (SETTING)

My living room is a place of fun and enjoyment.  A place where the family is always together and connected. We may not always want to watch the same things so we have two televisions. That way, if my dad and I are watching a game and my mom and sister want to watch something else, they can.
Many specail moments have happened in the living room at my house. It was during Christmas when a lot of family had came ocer for the holidays. We would play games like karaoke. We dance and sing and just have all the fun we can have. We do this almost every year. It is a really great time. My living room during the holidays is the place to be.

"Cats and Dogs..."

Cats and dogs are clearly unique creatures, yet as the two most common house pets comparisons often arise. There are good reasons why cats and dogs have such distinctive personalities and behaviors. Likely the biggest difference between cats and dogs is their social patterns and interactions. Dogs being pack animals, the members of their pack or family are critical to them. They look for a leader, and may try to take the leadership role if they don’t perceive that another member of their pack is the leader. If a person does not take the leadership role, dogs often experience behavior problems. This is quite different than the way cats interact. Cats are not pack animals, and don’t look for a human leader to follow. While they are more independent than dogs, they aren’t solitary animals as some perceive them. However, the relationships they form are based more on behavior, treatment, and territorial and survival concerns. A cat that is treated badly will rarely stick around, where a dog that is treated badly will often return as they are connected to those people regardless of their treatment. In the wild cats do form groups, but this is influenced by whether there is enough food to hunt, and if they are willing to accept another cat into their territory. Cats hunt independently and don’t share their food as dogs do. Consequently, the basic ways dogs and cats interact with people and other animals are fundamentally different.

"Basketball..."

James Naismith was the Canadian physical education instructor who invented basketball in 1891. James Naismith was born in Almonte, Ontario and educated at McGill University and Presbyterian Cllege in Montreal. He was the physical education teacher at McGill University (1887 to 1890) and at Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts (1890 to 1895). At Springfield College (which was then the Y.M.C.A. training school), James Naismith, under the direction of American phys-ed specialist Luther Halsey Gulick, invented the indoor sport of basketball.

"Formal and Informally..."

When you dress for a formal occasion that is when you are usually going to a party, get together, or if you are going to work. Women usually wear nice skirts with a nice fitted shirt and some high heels. They can wear nice slacks. They can also wear dresses. Jeans and sneakers are not clothes that you wear if you are going to a formal occasion. Guys wear he easy stuff. I believe that they have an easy outfit because they can just wear slacks, ties and nice shoes. That is what people wear when you go to a formal occasion. When you go to an informal occasion, people can wear whatever they want. You can wear jeans, shorts, sneakers, t-shirts, Crew necks, hoodies, hats and etc. Informal wear is usually what you feel is comfortable.

"Raw and Cooked foods..."

RAW, GO LIVE :)
Why Raw? Why not!
Live Raw or (read backward) Evil War
Raw food is perfect
Cooked food is not perfect
Raw food is alive
Cooked food is dead
Raw food heals
Cooked food kills
Raw food is nature made (God made)
Cooked food is man made
Raw food has full calories
Cooked food has empty calories
Raw food is simple
Cooked food is complicated
Raw food has live enzymes
Cooked food has dead enzymes
Raw food brings health, happiness and harmony
Cooked food causes diseases, depression and deaths
Raw food is a blessing
Cooked food is a poison

"Spicy and Sweet foods..."

The comparison between spicy and sweet foods is that they are all foods. Everybody eats either one of them. Another comparison is that they both have some foods that are nasty but some foods that are good. The difference is the taste. Spicy foods have hot sauce, jalapenos, pepper or anything to make it spicy. There is a certain type of bitter taste that spicy food contains. Spicy foods also have the tendency of making you go to the restroom. Sweet foods are different. When you say sweets, some people think of candy or desserts. There are not a lot of foods that are main dish and are sweet. Most of the sweet foods are in the end when you order some ice cream or some cake. They both are in different categories. The thing that I hate is when people try to mix the two together. Those two completely opposite taste cannot combine that good all of the time. It is like trying to mix oil and water together, it cannot happen.

"Weather..."

Pleasant weather (higher temperature or barometric pressure) was related to higher mood, better memory, and ‘‘broadened’’ cognitive style during the spring as time spent outside increased. The same relationships between mood and weather were not observed during other times of year, and indeed hotter weather was associated with lower mood in the summer.

"Public school and homeschooling..."

Regular public school classrooms are not, by nature, relatively calm environments, especially at the elementary school level. However, that does not mean a student cannot thrive in such an environment. In fact, supporters of regular public schooling argue that the chaos of the classroom is actually what children need to succeed.
Humans are social creatures. That is the belief of many regular public school proponents. Children should interact and to work with one another in order to build real, vital skills needed in the real world. For example, the advocates of regular public schooling believe that learning the reading process can certainly happen effectively at home. After all, they say, most kids do learn to read at home. However, the goal of public education is not to teach students simply how to read, solve math problems, or to solve scientific equations. If that was the case, home schooling would be the best option for everyone.

"Understanding and knowledge..."

Understanding and knowledge are two different words and two different meanings. Understanding is a process that takes time and requires energy for intellectual intelligence. Knowledge is familiarity with facts, which you may have learned through study, observations, or personal experience. Understanding you can distinguish or judge between two things. To understand something you have to gain the meaning or essence of something. Understanding is also called intellectual, it is a psychological process related to an abstract or physical object, such as a person, situation, or message. Knowledge acquisition involves processes: perception, learning, and communication. The term knowledge is also used to mean the confident understanding of a subject with the ability to use it for a specific purpose. What knowledge and understanding do have in common is that they both work hand in hand. In order to attain knowledge of something you first have to understand the concept.  Without one, you cannot have the other

"Most effective teacher..."

I believe that the most effective teacher I have ever had was my eighth grade English teacher, Mr. Evans. He was a very great instructor. If  I had trouble with something he will explain it to me in a different way. He always pushed his students to do the best that they can do. With his ability to teach, I was able to understand everything thoroughly and effectively. I will always get A's or B's in his class. Aside from his professional skills, he was a good friend. He was easy to talk to and funny. However, I knew that he was still an adult so I still respected him.
The books he made us read were very interesting. He will make us rethink about things in other perspective, which was very unique. He will also teach us about life lessons in a way that we can understand. He taught me so much about myself and how I can pursue my dreams. The sad thing is that he is no longer at my school anymore. He is my favorite teacher from High School.

"Sleepy..."

All moms put passion in singing"cradle song". Animals also sleep, even the plants. Everything that's alive needs sleep to survive. In the resting hours, the body makes internal repairs such as relaxation of muscles, the neurons repair themselves, the brain sorts things out, replaces chemicals and solve problems, the immune system increases and so. In the past, most people thought of sleep as a passive time. Today we know that sleep holds the mind and the body together. The lack of sleep can destroy our health. The more sleep-deprived we are, the more stressed we become and overtired.
Nerve-signaling chemicals called neurotransmitters control whether we are asleep or awake by acting on different groups of nerve cells, or neurons, in the brain. Neurons in the brainstem, which connects the brain with the spinal cord, produce neurotransmitters such as serotonin and norepinephrine that keep some parts of the brain active while we are awake. Other neurons at the base of the brain begin signaling when we fall asleep. These neurons appear to "switch off" the signals that keep us awake. Research also suggests that a chemical called adenosine builds up in our blood while we are awake and causes drowsiness. This chemical gradually breaks down while we sleep.
How do our bodies know when it is time to sleep? We all have an internal circadian clock that provides cues for when it is time to sleep and time to wake. This clock is sensitive to light and time of day, which is why having a good bedtime routine and a quiet dark place to sleep is so important. At the same time, a chemical messenger called adenosine builds up during the day as our bodies are busy using energy. The more adenosine builds up in the brain, the sleepier you will feel. Adenosine combined with the circadian clock sends a powerful message of sleepiness to your body.
Insomnia almost always affects job performance and well-being the next day.
I hope I helped you a bit.

"I'm Coming Home..." (SONG)

Chorus]
I’m coming home
I’m coming home
tell the World I’m coming home
Let the rain wash away all the pain of yesterday
I know my kingdom awaits and they’ve forgiven my mistakes
I’m coming home, I’m coming home
tell the World I’m coming
[J. Cole]
Back where I belong
I’ve never felt so strong eh
feeling like there’s nothing that I can’t try
and if you feel me put your hands high, high, high, hey
and if you feel me put your hands high, high, hey
This is my story this is my song
if you aint got the heart, don’t attempt to try this at home
it’s just a poem from a man once living wrong
now I’m in the zone, tell the World I’m coming home
been a long time coming, been a long time coming
this song feel like the greatest of all time coming
cause I do it B-I-G, I remember we would be high
who’d have thoguht we’d be running rap when we was knee high
to appreciate the sun you gotta know what rain is
or cause I’m famous you don’t gotta know what pain is
but I bounce back, would ya look at that
I take my spot at the top and I aint looking back
[Chorus]
I’m coming home
I’m coming home
tell the World I’m coming home
Let the rain wash away all the pain of yesterday
I know my kingdom awaits and they’ve forgiven my mistakes
I’m coming home, I’m coming home
tell the World I’m coming
[J. Cole]
Hey, confusion like I was losing my mind
but one thing I never lose is my grind
my closet need a lot of cleaning now
I can’t sleep cause I dont like the sh-t I dream about
hey Dear Lord please help me get the demons out
and then help me get my genius out
and get back to what I had
if my good’s outweigh my bads, do you think my mistakes is gon even out (even out)
I guess try and see, it’s on my diary, I’m living for my kids
now they is just as fly as me
talk well, wonder if Andre Harrell knew how great I would be when he fired me
[Chorus x2]
I’m coming home
I’m coming home
tell the World I’m coming home
Let the rain wash away all the pain of yesterday
I know my kingdom awaits and they’ve forgiven my mistakes
I’m coming home, I’m coming home
tell the World I’m coming…home

"New Language..."

Before you learn grammar, take classes, watch foreign TV, work from books, learn 2000 words using native speaker audio file. What good is grammar without words? How can you get anything out of a class without knowing the words. You will get frustrated and think you do not have a gift. But the truth is everyone has the gift to learn languages. How can you understand or speak to anyone without the words of a language? Learn the words anyway you can. Eveyone finds their own way.
I like flashcards. But mnemonics is good, or word list, but drill the words until you know about 2000 individual words. Then you can learn the grammar or anything else in a month or less. That is the secrete to learning a language fast.

"........"

Would you just listen and please don't say a word, just yet,
I'd like you to think back to the very first time we met,
How you felt around me? The memories we shared,
And just remember that once upon a time, you really cared.

Now think about how we parted, and how much I cried,
But please don't speak, remember that I never ever lied,
That I told you the honest truth about why we were to split,
But now I'd like you to know that my heart broke bit by bit.

The pain was deep, unbearable and painful, for so many years,
I'll never forget all the sadness, all the uncontrollable tears,
Slowly I am rebuilding my life, I am content with what I've got,
And although it is hard I am beginning to forget what I have not.

You were a special part of my life that I will never forget,
A part of my life that broke my heart, but that I don't regret,
You gave me some happy memories that I'll keep in my heart,
Although sometimes I wish that you and I didn't have to part.

You were my first love and my true love, that will always be so,
After all of the heartache, sadness and never ending pain, I know,
You and I had something special and that will never change,
Because I love you and loving someone else will always seem strange.

Would you just listen and please don't say a word, not ever,
I'd like you to remember that once upon a time, we said forever,
That I had hopes and dreams, that I was the one who threw them away,
And this is something I will always regret until my dying day.

"Relationship with animals..."

Not everyone has a great relationship with their pets but many people do. They treat their pets as if they were a member of their family. A pet can become the best friend of to a person.  A pet can keep them company and occupied. With a pet they have something to care for and look after, they'll be able to feed it and show them love. A pet can develop a relationship for anyone of any age. People usually want a pet because they like that specific animal, others want a pet for the companionship. Any pet can win over someones heart. If you look after a pet, they will show you their gratitude and over time you will begin to develop a relationship with that pet and begin to love them. Anyone who owns a pet, the pet becomes an important part of their life. Pets can teach humans how to care for another living thing. Relationships that people have with animals is important because animals sometimes need the help of humans to take care of them, they can not always survive on themselves. Animals can become a big part of someones life and when they become part of a family they bring benefits to the family. However, it is important to show them who is boss still because sometimes their animal instincts can harm others. It is important to show them how to behave, like tricks or commands.

"Life without cell phones..."

Considering that technology is advancing everyday and new inventions are forming, life without the invention of cellphones would be completely different. Now a days people rely a majority of their life on their phones. People can not step out of their house without having their phone in their hand. If they forget to grab there phone, they will go back in get it even if there drove five minutes away already. People use their phone to communicate with their friends, family, or they also use it for business relating topics. Cellphones are so advanced that you could practically do anything with a cellphone. The majority of cellphones can provide you with Internet access, and some people use this opportunity to check their emails if they have important business or school emails they are waiting for. The majority of cellphones also provide a camera and a video recorder. With this service you no longer need to bring a camera along where you go. Because cellphones are advancing everyday and they provide all these features and more modern life would not be the same without cellphones. To some people cellphones is an item that must be with them all the time for any purpose, they no longer use a cellphone to only make a call. If cellphones are banned people will probably have a hard time without it because it has evolved so much already.

"Barbados..."

Barbados is the most easterly of all the Caribbean islands. With a history based on three
centuries of continuous British rule (1625 - 1966). This pear-shaped island, measures 21 miles by 14 miles with a population of around 255,000 and although relatively small, each coast holds it's own special attraction.
The sophisticated West Coast is home to some of the best beaches with calm water and clear snorkeling. The South Coast is great for windsurfing and boogie-boarding, but it is renowned for it's lovely atmosphere and nightlife. Heading east the rocky, wave lashed coastline is the least developed, with picturesque headlands and coves. Inland Barbados is quiet and rural, with fields upon fields of sugarcane dotted with old plantation houses. Don't miss the fabolous scenery of the Scotland District named so by the early explorers as it reminded them of home.

"World Poem..."

Not a day goes by and all I can do is think
As life as we know it is on the brink
That people today don’t know what to do
As the world ends and we do too
The wind whistles and the ground roars
People are scared as they close their doors
Families are praying for life today
As people with no houses go astray

Time goes by and it all goes dark
This tragic moment has made its mark
The streets go silent, not a word is spoken
Then thunder roars and the silence is broken

"Any Decade..."

If I could live in any decade, it would be years from now. Anytime such as 2100-2110. Almost 100 years from now. I would love to live in the future because this world would be much better. I do not believe there will be a lot of pollution from cars if any. Hopefully the cars will get there energy from the sun. Solar power energy. There may even be flying cars. The world will be much much better. That is why I would like to live in the decade of 2100-2110.

"Parents..."

Now I know this is a painful topic for those of you who have lost a parent - or both. Or perhaps you never knew your parents, or are estranged from them for various reasons. Since I can’t speak to all situations in this limited space, this message today is for those of you who are fortunate enough to still have one or both of your parents still living: Make today the day you let them know how much you have appreciated them in your life. Pick up the phone or stop by to see them, and let them know you are thankful for their guidance and love. Do it today before time runs out! You will feel better, and they will be thrilled because hearing words of love, affection and appreciation is one thing that never gets old!

"Remember..."

Do you remember when the Los Angeles Lakers were the Minneapolis Lakers in Blue and White Jersey's?
Do you remember when the Minneapolis Lakers won their first National Basketball Association Finals (Championship) in 1949?
Do you remember when "The Black Mamba" Kobe Bryant joined the National Basketball Association?
Do you remember when the Los Angeles Lakers with Kobe Bryant played the Chicago Bulls with Michael Jordan? It was the game to watch.
Do you remember when the Lakers went 3 peat with Kobe and Shaq?
Do you remember when the Boston Celtics beat the Los Angeles Lakers in 2008?
Do you remember when the Los Angeles Lakers went 2 peat in 2009-2010?
Do you even remember the game of basketball?

"Family History..."

If I wanted to know how to preserve my family history, I would talk to my parents and my grandmother. Maybe my dad or mom's aunts and uncles.  I would ask them what are some of the traditions they perform year long, such as in holidays, birthdays or any other special occasions. I would also ask if there is something that has been passed down from generation to generation, such as something valuable or even a recipe that was made by my ancestors. I will probably ask how was there childhood. Something else I would ask is if they had any stories or myths that were told about our ancestors. After they tell me all the traditions they do, I would try to follow them and when I have children I would encourage them to follow them as well. In some cases some of the traditions die and they are not passed to the next generations. If this was the case with my family, I will try to revive these traditions and practice them. I am pretty sure that my parents would be proud of me if I were to do this. Preserving family traditions are important because you will be keeping them alive for years to come.. Everyone should retrace their family history it is very important.

"The right college..."

When you think about schools, you need to consider what you really want in an education. Do you want to be trained for a specific line of work or do you want a more general liberal arts education? A pre-professional education prepares you for a specific job and includes areas such as engineering and pre-med. Some schools like M.I.T. have very strong programs for those interested in the sciences but might not be right for someone interested in literature. A liberal arts education, on the other hand, aims to equip you with general knowledge and reasoning skills suitable for many jobs. Here’s a key question to ask every college: How does the college rank in the major you want to study? Universities are stronger in some areas and weaker in others. While it may be too early for you to know whether you want to major in English or history, check out how strong the programs and professors are in the various fields you are considering. One indication of how much emphasis a university places on a major is to find out how many students are studying that major, how many courses are offered in the field and how many faculty members teach the courses associated with that major and others like it. This should give you an idea as to the size of the department and the range of courses. If you want a major in a narrow field, you might have to consider a larger university.

"Make your community a better place..."

I try to be a good member of my community each & every day, not only by my own acts, but in teaching my 3 generations of offspring to participate positively. My great granddaughters go with me when we donate to the annual toy drive, & throughout the year the assist in choosing & collecting our toys. Just this last Thursday they helped me deliver shoeboxes & tote bags filled with basic toiletries, small games & toys to the local women's shelter & to DSS for foster children. They enjoy accompanying me when I distribute candy or cookies to the local gov't employees to thank them for always being there to help us. We also supply two elementary school classrooms with supplies every year, & donate extra supplies to organizations who deal with students in emergencies. A couple of years ago I donated a teddy bear for each of the sheriff's patrol cars so that if an officer responded to a scene where a child needed comforting, they had a toy to help. We have sent hundreds of boxes to servicemen in Iraq, & I make quilts for the wounded. I work day by day, though knowing that I can't do big things, I am secure in the knowledge that we have offered many small comforts when they were needed, & managed to let many folks know in small ways that there are others who care.

"Typical day of my life..."

My typical day of my life is very different from others from my eyes. I wake up in the morning and go to school. That is probably the same as most in the world at my age. During school, I of course learn new things and/or relearn somethings I have forgotten. I go through my periods until lunch and I eat and talk to friends during lunch. After my last periods of school I go home and eat something to keep me full for a good amount of hours. In about an hour at about 4:30, I have to go to the family business and be an instructor for the karate school and teach all ages from 3-60. I have been an instructor for about 4-5 years now at the family business. I started karate at the age of 4 years old. I am at the family business till about9 o'clock at night. I come home to eat dinner with m family, take my shower, do any homework I have to do and go to bed. My bedtime can range from about 11-2 in the morning. That is my typical day.

"Vegetables I dislike..."

With me, I dislike basically almost every vegetable you can think of. I still have to eat them because they are good for you, but I still dislike most of them. The one vegetable I like the most is corn. The vegetable I would say i truly dislike and do not like to eat is Broccoli. It does not taste well at all to me. It may to other people, well actually many of people from what I see, but for me, not at all. If I could, I would never eat Broccoli ever again, but I am made to eat it with my dinner almost everyday. I'm not going to complain though, because it is good for me to eat vegetables.

"Favorite Season..."

I like fall with all the pretty leaves falling down and I like winter, with the cold silence and who doesn't like the first melting days of spring, but summer, summer makes you feel alive.
Last night with the full moon reflecting off the lake, I went for a midnight swim. Yes, the water was more than brisk, but when the air temperature is lower than the water temperature, that water feels good going in.
So, it is Summer and anything can happen in the Summer.

"Brothers and sisters..."

Brothers and sisters fight all the time! I can relate to this topic because I have a little sister who does not listen to me at all. I do not fight with her as much as we use to when we were younger. It use to be everyday and every night. It could happen three times a day on a good day. Lets just say a lot of times that we would fight on a bad day. Just any little bump between us would start a fight between. Sometimes our parents would let it go when we were about two and four years old because we are two years apart, but as the time past and I got older, I got stronger so our parents would not let it go. I later realized that I was getting stronger and I could not hit my sister hard or it would hurt so I would have to deal with her hitting me. It does not really start anything between our family, but it can start something between other families and start hatred between them. The best way to handle that is to not take the fighting so seriously. If they do then they should maybe have counseling or have another family member talk to them about it.

"College admissions test..."

Sharpen those No. 2s: Getting into your favorite school is far easier if you get strong scores on the admissions tests. Although plenty of resources are available to help you prepare, your best bet is still to read widely, develop a good vocabulary and challenge yourself in math and science courses.

"Ending a relationship..."

You've done everything you can. But you've finally realised that it's time to end your relationship. Understandably you're struggling to do it. Here's some practical advice to help you bring your relationship to a close. Also what to do if you can't quite bring yourself to end it (even though you know you should).
A relationship not working out is rarely about blaming or there being anything wrong with either you or your partner. It's just that the two of you are not compatible. Remember this when going through the process. The only other significant reasons for break-ups are because of physical or emotional abuse. Virtually everything else is a compatibility issue.
Sometimes the truth hurts. 'You're too fat, I don't find you sexually attractive and you're crap in bed'
Would you want to hear that? I doubt it. I also suspect you don't really want to hurt your partner, so sometimes it's best to avoid telling the whole truth. Not lie. Just not go in to all the details where you know it will hurt them.
If you're break up takes a long time, you're going to be asked lots of questions. You're both going to hurt badly in the process. Just don't ever be tempted to use a harsh truth as a weapon to get revenge for you feeling hurt.

"Making a new friend..."

fairly common social issue people have is that they're not sure how to make friends and put together a social life for themselves. There are quite a few ways someone can find themselves in this situation. Once you've met some people you get along with, ask them to hang out. This is the most important step in my experience. You can meet all the people you want, and they can think you're great, but if you don't take any actions to do something with them in the future, then you won't form many new relationships. People will stay as the guy you talk to in class, or the girl you chat to at work in the break room. This seems basic, but lonelier people often hit a wall here. There may be someone they joke around with at work, or chat to in one of their classes, but they won't take the step of inviting them out and taking the relationship to the next level. If you're on the shyer side, you might be a little hesitant to invite people out too. While it is a little scary at first, and there is some risk of rejection, it's fairly easy to get used to. It's not nearly as bad as asking people out on a date, for example.

"Basketball..."

Basketball in my opinion the best thing I can do with my friends to have fun while burning a few calories. I see basketball as a fun and easy way to have fun rather than sitting on the couch all day playing video games or watching television. One reason I love basketball is because you need only yourself to play the game or, you can play with teammates. I prefer to have others to play with rather than just playing alone. To me there is not only one word that I can describe basketball. You meet tons of people and you are able to play with your friends for hours without getting one thought of boredom. One thing I love about basketball is that people have many different styles of play. There are styles such as a passer, playmaker, shooter, defensive player, and dunker or highflyer. When you play basketball you feel much more confident and makes you not care much about how others think about you. When I possess the ball in basketball I have the mentality of being the best and no one could stop me. Many people have creative ideas and find new ways to trick the opposing players. Playing Basketball is very entertaining since there are endless ideas you can think of just with a hoop and a basketball. There are many reasons why I love to play the game of Basketball but I also love to watch the game also.

"Prejudice..."

THINK BEFORE YOU ACT!!... Prejudice is an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason, according to dictionary.com.  Prejudice is a dangerous area that can cause many negative effects. One thing that causes prejudice is the desire to be superior to another person or group. When Caucasians decide that their race is superior to a Hispanic American then they are being prejudice. They have not gotten to know the Hispanic and assumed they were better beforehand, which is a bit of racial profiling. They didn't even take the time to find out if the Hispanic were maybe some sort of genius or athletic superstar. The white American just saw the color of the skin and assumed the Hispanic were worthless.Prejudice have a history of negativity. I know many people in this country, the United States if America, are prejudice. This country is very unequal even though it does have great benefits. When their is prejudice the people who are being judged beforehand are the ones who suffer. They do not get fair or equal treatment and their lives are made much more harder. They are given no voice and seen as animals.
Prejudice is also caused by the result of parenting. Sometimes parents hand down their prejudice towards certain people to their children. Their children then become prejudice and the cycle continues. This is why people say that the parents are the reason why their children turn out the way they did; horrible! Prejudice is just bad news and we are better of without it but it is too late for some people.

"Impulse buying..."

Impulse buying is a bad habit. Most of the time we get caught up in an item that we think we must have it. It could be because it is the newest item that just came out to the market or because of the quality it contains. We are so caught up thinking we have to purchase it to look "cool" but who cares what others think. We do not think about the qualities of the item or new benefits it will bring to us. We do not stop to think what will be the best item for us we just go straight for the eye catching items. Impulse buying has consequences.
Emotions and feelings play a decisive role in this purchase because you can feel depressed and to make you feel better you buy things. However, buying artificial items does not take away the scar you have internally. When an impulse purchase is made it could often lead to financial difficulties depending on the item , family disapproval, or feeling guilt or disappointment. Impulse buying is only a desired item, it is not a reasonable purchase and we do not think about the details of buying when we are drawn to the item. I believe impulse buying can ruin one's life because they can become bankrupt and then end up being poor.

"Pollution..."

Explaining a new world to someone from another planet might be difficult but pollution is the introduction of contaminants into a natural environment that causes instability, disorder, harm or discomfort to the ecosystem, such as physical systems or living organisms. In other words, pollution harms our environment. I would explain what are the things that pollute our planet. Air pollution comes from both natural and man made sources. Though globally man made pollutants come from combustion, construction, mining, agriculture and warfare are increasingly significant in the air pollution equation. Motor vehicle emissions are one of the leading causes of air pollution. Another form of pollution comes from factories where they make things such as chemical plants, coal-fired power plants, oil refineries, petrochemical plants, nuclear waste disposal activity, incinerators, and large livestock farms. Pollution is bad and it is harming our planet. A lot  of people are not aware of this and I think that everyone should know. We should all take care of our environment and the things that were put here on Earth. I will tell them how to help my planet become safer, so there wont be more negative problems in this world.

"Modern Life..."

Modern life without computers would be terrible. Everything revolves around computers. We do homework on our computers, we do our work on our computers, we go into the internet and browse through the internet, and our cell phones are like computers now. Everything has been turned into that we have to rely on computers for everything in this world. Without computers everything would be so much slower. Things that can be done in an hour on the computer will take three hours on hand. Computers have started to think for us. A lot of people are lacking knowledge now because we depend on the computers to do it for us. Without the computers we would not be modern anymore. Computers manage our money. They keep up with everything that we buy and sell. Without computers, a lot of people would not know what to do because their daily routine is all about computers. Kids would actually have to do something and think about it on their own. The social network would not exist and people would have to everything like the old days where you actually said something to somebody face to face.

"Good driver..."

If you want to be a good driver you have to do everything that you would not do if there weren’t any rules. You have to drive carefully because there are still a lot of careless drivers out there. People just do not care about others and worry about themselves. They do not care if the way that they are driving might cause some sort of type of accident and they might end up hurting even killing somebody. You need to always keep your eyes on the road and look at your whole environment. You cannot text while driving. It is just stupidity. You do not need to be talking while you’re driving and if it is an emergency than you can pull over and call them. You need to follow all of the rules because they are there for a reason. You have to always stop at the stop signs and make sure that is it clear. When there is a yellow light try to avoid taking it because you never know if somebody is speeding and can just collide with you.

"J.r Smith..."

nba_g_jrsmith_576.jpg
J.r Smith (Earl Smith JR) is my favorite basketball player He was born september 9, 1985. He went to Saint Benedict Preparatory School and after high school he went straight to the NBA. He was drafted to the New Orleans Hornets in 2004.In his rookie season, he averaged 10.3 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game. Smith participated in the Sprite Rising Stars Slam Dunk Competition in 2005 finishing behind Amar'e Stoudemire and the eventual winner, Josh Smith. On July 13, 2006, the Hornets formally traded Smith to the Chicago Bulls. He was again traded on July 19, 2006 to the Denver Nuggets. On February 10, 2009, Smith was chosen to replace the injured Rudy Gay in the 2009 Slam Dunk Contest. On April 13, 2009, Smith scored a career -high 45 points on 13 of 22 shooting, as part of a 118-98 win over the Sacramento Kings. He made a franchise-record 11 three pointers during the game, which was one shy of tying the NBA record. On April 8, 2010, in a game against the Lakers, Smith drained 4 three pointers in the 2nd quarter alone to break the Nuggets' record for most career three pointers made. He finished the 2009-10 season with the second most three pointers in the league coming off the bench as the sixth man. J.r Smith can be an All Star once he is able to be consistent. It will soon come along for him.

"What makes me special..."

What makes me special? I consider myself being a very unique person. I have two different types of names. My name, Clifford is a different name and not many people have that name. My nickname is chance and that is also a different name that not many people have. I can play pretty much any sport or close to any sport. I can play sports from basketball and football to tennis and golf. I am a very athletic person. I have never had a broken bone. I am a smart person going to college! :)

"Poem..."

I knew this women, hate in her heart
I loved to draw, she hated my art.
Her mind of somethings like the devil
But i'm on a whole different level.
My mind of that of an angel
Among the hatred of this women, I just wanna cuddle.
I couldn't help but think about this young lady
Wait, she's old? Someone needs to help me.

This old, but young lady limping with her cool stride
Walks with excitement, head up high with pride.
She has the swag of a teenage girl
Liking the boys with their hair in curls.
Living the teenage life in an eighty year old body
Trying to show off her goody goodies.
With the high heels and the black tights
She loves to be in the lime light.

She runs away, being talked about, made fun of being so old
Trying to be a different age, a young women, but feeling so cold.
She whispers to herself, I'm coming home I'm coming home
Tell the world I'm coming home
Let the rain wash away, all the pain of yesterday
I no my city awaits and they for given my mistakes
I'm coming home I'm coming home
Tell the world I'm coming home, back where I belong.

"Importance of pride..."

People should have pride in one's work because it shows your intellectual perspective of the work. If you are creating something that you took time on you should have pride on it. Show it off to the world so they can see it and admire it. I have known many people who have done something and they are afraid to claim that they did it. In my opinion, people should not do that because they are the ones that did it and they should take credit for it. That happens to me sometimes because I feel embarrassed about what people might think about my work because I feel like they will not understand my feelings. However, I shouldn't do that because I should not let others stop me from illuminating. Every individual should be proud of their work. Those who do have pride in their work are now exhibiting they talents in museums, galleries, and you can even find them in libraries. They can help shape a person in life, giving them motivation to continue their work and achieving their goals. It is important to have pride in one's work! It makes you grow from it.

"Diversity..."

Diversity is broader than affirmative action and is voluntary (it is not "strictly necessary" to incorporate diversity concepts in order to meet federal requirements) However, the Regents and Chancellor Berdahl are committed to having a diverse University. Emphasizing diversity moves the University beyond considerations of only race and gender in its efforts to achieve an inclusive work environment.
While affirmative action and equal employment opportunity focus on employment practices, the concept of diversity extends to the work environment, including individual attitudes and behaviors. Yet diversity is related to affirmative action and equal employment opportunity, as there is a direct relationship between individual attitudes and behaviors, and employment practices. Diversity workshops can help managers learn a variety of options to enhance diversity, and to understand how to consistently apply fair employment practices and procedures.
Actions that promote diversity for staff are those that lead to a work environment that maximizes the potential of all employees while acknowledging their unique contributions and differences.

"Cooperation..."

Cooperation to me means; we can cooperate to build a house or to write a book. In such cases cooperation is a joint action. In some other cases cooperation can fall short of being a proper joint action, the drivers in the street cooperate by following traffic rules, but they do not always act jointly (at least in the sense in which I will be speaking of joint action). While some comments on such cooperation will he made later in the paper, the focus of this is cooperative joint action. Every joint action type - be it cooperative or noncooperative - can be performed both cooperatively and non cooperatively.

"Communication..."

Communication has changed drastically. Since the beginning in time from sent message by sailing all over the Earth, to Morse Code, the invention of the radio, television, and the telephone. We also had beepers. Communication is big part of our society. There is always important information that needs to be sent or heard. Up to this day the radio, television, telephone and the postal office is still a big part of our communication tools. Recently, a couple of other types of media have been very important to us and also a very addicting to us. I am talking about MySpace, Face book, Twitter, emails, cell phones, and yes texting! These medias have made communication so much easier with just the touch of a button. Texting has created their own type of language like “wth" or “lol”. Also conversations have become less personal, not many people talk on the phone or having meetings in person. Someone can have a meeting through web cam (computer and now on iPhones/iTouch). You can be in France and you can easily talk to someone from a different country. Communication has always been important but with new inventions or technology change, communication has never been so important

"Teachers and methods for teachers..."

There are a lot of methods that teachers can use to make the education better and more fun to the students. I think that teachers need to be realistic when it comes to homework, especially for high school students. When a student has seven classes, you have to know that it is uncalled for when you give those students double the homework than all of their classes combined. When you give students that type of homework, a lot of kids nowadays will not do the homework because it is too overwhelming and it becomes stressful after a while. These are the things that make kids depressed is that they do not know what to do when it comes to piles and piles of homework. The teacher needs to be fair when it comes to that. I think teachers need to loosen up when they are in their classrooms. When the class is intense because the teacher is showing a lot of tension, the kids also get in a bad mood. The mood of the teacher rubs off on the student and then that is where the problems are because the student and teacher might bump heads but it is the entire teachers fault for having such an overwhelming classroom. It think that the teachers should be in a good mood or at least try to be in a good mood so that the environment for the students are good. I think that the teachers should also try to make their lectures more exciting. Students get bored because the teacher is so boring and nothing gets done because the kid has no idea what the teacher is talking about since it is going in one ear and out the other.

"Conveniences..."

Conveniences can change a person's life drastically. People who want to have children or in general have to give up lots of things, like go out and just spend on themselves, to support the life they brought into the world. Not everything about providing for a child is bad, it is just hard work. However, when the parents see their child's smile or hear their laughter, it fills their heart up with love and the will power to do anything for them. This convenience is a gift from God and no one can replace the love one has for their child or children.
Teens, children, or adults who love the sport soccer and are playing it have to be very committed and ready for the hard work also. I play soccer and it is very time consuming because my schedule gets heck tick. I have school, practice, homework, chores, an sometimes I get double practice. I do not have much time to relax and be comfortable in my room. My weekends consist of soccer games. However, I love this sport and I would not have it any other way. This convenience is just a part of me an it is great. Without soccer I do not know how m life would have been.

"Fame and Fortune..."

A person can achieve fortune in many ways and it will change that individual's life. In my opinion there are two ways a person achieves fame and fortune. A person can achieve fame and fortune by either working hard and earning it or by simply being handed the fame and fortune down by their parents. When a person works hard to achieve their fame and their fortune they also inevitably end up building their character. During the process of reaching their desired status these people must have encountered failures. Each failure that they surpassed taught them determination, and every time they had to find the strength to try one more time, they learned to "dig deep" within themselves and push themselves harder.  It is these kinds of people that truly remain humble once they have acquired the fame and fortune, because they have exhausted themselves and put in the time and effort. They will forever know what it was like to be on the other side of the spectrum and for that be truly grateful of their great luck.
However, the people that are just given fame and fortune often expect everything to just as well be GIVEN to them. These are the type of people most of the ones who aren't famous or have a whole bunch of money consider "spoiled". They don't have the challenge or privilege of knowing what it is like or how it feels to have to work for something. Not everyone who inherits fame and fortune is like this but there is a possibility that they might turn out unappreciative

"Major environmental problem..."

A huge expanse of floating plastic debris has been documented for the first time in the North Atlantic Ocean. The size of the affected area rivals the "great Pacific garbage patch" in the world's other great ocean basin, which generated an outcry over the effects of plastic waste on marine wildlife.
The new plastic waste, which was discovered in an area of the Atlantic to the east of Bermuda, consists mostly of fragments no bigger than a few millimetres wide. But their concentrations and the area of the sea that is covered have caused consternation among marine biologist studying the phenomenon.
Using fine-mesh nets towed from a research ship, the scientists collected more than 64,000 individual plastic pieces at 6,100 locations out at sea over the 22-year period of the survey. The highest concentrations were centred at approximately the same latitude as Atlanta, Georgia (32 degrees North) but extended about 500 miles north and south of this line.

"Public health concern..."

A public health concern is obesity. Obesity is a horrible thing to be. Obesity has become the popular term for a set of problems that result in premature death and injury from diabetes, heart disease and cancer. It is a convenient term, but we should stop using it. The word obesity triggers in people more than a technical idea about energy balance or people burning fewer calories than they consume. This is because people understand words only as a part of larger systems of ideas called frames. Ideas about what obesity means, or why it happens are the unspoken parts of the frame that appear automatically in people's heads when they hear the word.

Obesity is a bodily condition, not a social condition. People are obese, communities or neighborhoods are not obese. Using the term makes it harder to illustrate the conditions that inhibit healthy eating and activity.  Obesity is only one of many risk factors for diabetes and heart disease and in some cases may not be the most important one. Skinny people can also be malnourished and at risk for diabetes. A focus on obesity obscures the other risk factors and equates thinness with health. A focus on weight instead of nutrition may lead people to adopt popular weight-lose diets rather than eating nutritious foods.

"Teenage smoking..."

Most cigarette smokers understand that smoking is hazardous to your health. Despite this, millions attempt to quit each year unsuccessfully, because there is more to being hooked on cigarettes than the physical addiction to nicotine and tobacco. There are also psychological problems linked with smoking that make this habit all the more dangerous, and that in turn make quitting that much harder.
The brain immediately feels the effects of smoking, thanks in large part to how fast nicotine reaches the brain shortly after a smoker takes the first puff. Social learning theory states that over time one learns to associate smoking with other pleasurable activities, including eating, drinking and socializing.People can become quickly conditioned to the point where the thought of a pleasurable activity triggers the need for a cigarette. These psychological associations remain when smokers try to quit and make stopping the habit once and for all difficult.
The psychological addiction associated with smoking is caused by the nicotine inhaled. Cigarette nicotine has a direct effect on dopamine levels in the brain, which in term influence mood, appetite, and other aspects of brain chemistry controlled by this neurotransmitter. Repeated exposure to nicotine from smoking can quickly lead to the brain building up a tolerance for it, requiring the person to smoke more and more to produce the same effects on dopamine.

"Why is math important..."

Math is important because it is the most widely used subject in the world. Every career uses some sort of math. More importantly, doing math helps the mind to reason and organized complicated situations or problems into clear, simple, and logical steps. Thus, as students learn more math, the rationale is that their minds will eventually develop into logical entity that can resolve any difficult situations. The reality is that in a society
such as ours, high paying jobs often demand someone who can take complicated situations and simplify it to the level that everyone can understand. Therefore, by knowing more math, students give themselves the competitive edge they will need to compete for these high paying jobs.
Every fact of life on earth uses Mathematics in one manner or another. For instance, when you drive a car, you are computing your speed and how many miles you have gone. Balancing your checkbook also uses math. Yes, even musicians use math when playing their instruments. Math is used with everything in life!

"Choosing the foods you eat..."

Many people choose the foods they eat by what they like to eat. Personally, I am a very picky eater so I do not eat such a variety of different foods. To examine the self-reported importance of taste, nutrition, cost, convenience, and weight control on personal dietary choices and whether these factors vary across demographic groups, are associated with lifestyle choices related to health (termed health lifestyle), and actually predict eating behavior.
Taste is the most important influence on their food choices, followed by cost. Demographic and health lifestyle differences were evident across all 5 importance measures. The importance of nutrition and the importance of weight control were predicted best by subject's membership in a particular health lifestyle cluster. When eating behaviors were examined, demographic measures and membership in a health lifestyle cluster predicted consumption of fruits and vegetables, fast foods, cheese, and breakfast cereal. The importance placed on taste, nutrition, cost, convenience, and weight control also predicted types of foods consumed.
Many online sources offer varying definitions, but mostly everyone agrees that the Internet is a worldwide, publicly accessible network of interconnected computer networks that allows sharing or networking of files and information at remote sites from other academic institutions, research institutes, private companies, government agencies and individuals using the Transmission Control Protocol or Internet Protocol, and that communicate through phone and satellite. It is a three level hierarchy composed of backbone networks, mid-level networks, and stub networks. These include commercial, university and other research networks.

The internet allows school students as well as adults to do research for pretty much anything in the world. If you are sick, you can look up solutions of how to get rid of your cold. You can find ways to heel an injury from the internet. You can find out anything form the internet from when a show comes on to where to find a type of shoe at to reading a book online. The internet is can be for all ages, but should be monitored by an adult for children that are not yet teenagers. Those children would probably use the internet to play games and fun things of that sort. The internet was a great invention for this world.
In my opinion, a change of plans becomes necessary when the reason is important. For example, if I plan to go to the movies with friends and I am picking them up, but I cannot go anymore because I  have to babysit my cousins. I think that is a reasonable excuse, right? My friends can still go if they want, but they will have to find another person to take them. Another excusable reason to change the plans is when it is a life and death situation. Those excuses are understandable and reasonable. People have a heart for that type of situation.
Usually reasons for changing plans are understandable. Personally, I understand when things get postponed or cancelled because I can relate to their situation or I just do not mind. As long as the person changing the plans informs me ahead of time, it is fine. I believe any reason for plans to get changed are perfectly excusable. Everyone should understand.

"Ideal vacation..."

An ideal vacation for me is a trip to Barbados on a cruise. The cruise ship is a wonderful place itself. It has many floors on the ship, games, and two pools. There is a place on the cruise ship where it is a talent night every night. They have teenage parties and adult parties for you to go to on the ship. They have a basketball court, ping pong table, and many other things to play.
From what I have been told, Barbados is one of the cleanest places in the world. The bathrooms are like those of a new home and is clean all the time. Barbados is like heaven on earth. It has beautiful beaches, hot spots and there famous crop. You can take submarine rides there. It would be an awesome experience. There are rare sea turtles and the people in Barbados are among the friendliest in the world. There are magnificent coral reefs for scuba diving and snorkeling. They have spectacular cliff views for site-seeing. There are excellent waves for surfing and world class golf courses to tee off on. It is an exhilarating experience for "Barbados nightlife" for partying.
Barbados would be a great experience for all ages and all ethnicity's. I would recommend everyone in the world to take a trip to Barbados. I hope I have the chance to visit this place for at least a week on a cruise. It would be so fun.
